April 2007 Optimization Report
Dear Publisher,
Here is your optimization report for the month of April. After an automatic review of your sites, we think you might be able to improve your monetization using the following tips:
You may be filtering ads that monetize well on your site.
How can I fix this? – Dismiss this tip.We hope these tips are helpful, and encourage you to experiment using different layouts and formats–no two sites monetize the same way!
Sincerely,
Google Adsense
OK, cool – Google is telling me how I can make more money, nice :) Well, I have a few sites in the “Competitive Ad Filter” but I don’t think I have too many. It’s mostly just competing websites and sites that I’m an affiliate for (I want people to click the affiliate link on my site and not the one in the AdSense ad unit). So I’m not sure if I’m going to take this optimization tip seriously – like they said, it was an automatic review so you should definitely take it with a grain of salt.
It looks like they’re going to send AdSense publishers an optimization report every month which I think is pretty good – they might point out a few things that you forgot about and it can end up making you more money (and making Google more money, of course).
How about you – did you get any optimization tips from Google?
If you want more AdSense tips you should also check out the official AdSense blog. They often post some nice tips and news regarding the AdSense program, like this one about Introducing Google Apps referrals

Google seems to be generating automatic mails initially. They can easily look at blocked ads CPM/CPC and then recommend that unblocking them probably get you more money!

Yeh i had a problem with competitive ad filter, had so many sites in there, dropped every one of them and revenue went up, only slightly, but still went up.

Yes, the adsense reports say I was sent a report too, but no such critter in my inbox. Why not just copy the email into the click through area? Grrrr…

I got the same thing, but what I’d really like is something more than a BS message like this.
The problem I have currently is that there are some keywords in my most visited posts that totally throw off the ads. They have NOTHING to do with the content what so ever. Google does a good job everywhere else, but they’re really sticking it to me right now!

This is the first I’m hearing of it. I’ve yet to block certain ads since I’m a bit wary of it having the reverse effect of lowering rather than raising revenue.
