Finally! I was just visiting my blog and noticed something new - a green bar on the Live PageRank extension that I have installed on Firefox. Because I launched this blog just after (or around) the previous PageRank update I hadn’t gotten a public PageRank yet. The front page of this blog is now officially a PageRank 4 web page - which I think is pretty good for a brand new website. I’m sure the My Name In My Domain list helped a little bit ;) Well, this is great news because having a high PageRank blog comes with a lot of benefits - for example; a lot of services use Google’s PageRank (PR) to evaluate your website. Now I can submit my blog to Text Link Ads and Review Me and I’ll be able to make more money than if I only had PR3 or PR2.
But the last PageRank update was a bit shaky - so you might encounter some “bumps”. As an example it doesn’t seem like the public PageRank of Gary Lee’s blog has been updated (probably just because all the data centers haven’t been updated). How about your websites - did your PageRank go up or down? If you have a new website - what PageRank did you get?
If you increased your PageRank you shouldn’t expect a rush of traffic from Google all of a sudden. Because even though Google only updates the public PageRank every 3-4 months I’m pretty sure they update their algorithm calculations every day or so.

Hey Hannes . . i got my update . . only a PR3 . . . i’m exactly sure what happened, but oh well! Guess they took into account how old my domain was. Anyways, congratulations on the high PR!

Yeah, I checked your blog in Internet Explorer and there the Google Toolbar showed PageRank 3… I would have thought you would get at least a PR4 with all the links you must be getting from your viral lists ;) But there is still hope - they might not have updated the stats completely…
It probably helped me a little that I added a link to my blog from my PR5 domain and other high PageRank websites that I own.

That’s exciting, for some reason my PR tool isn’t showing the update yet, but i’ll go find another

Collis - that’s probably because the data centers in Australia haven’t been updated yet. You can use this tool to check the status on different data centers.
All the data centers will hopefully be updated in the next couple of days.

[...] Well Hannes just let me know that the Google PR has updated today, my own PR bar doesn’t seem to have registered it, but you can check out a whole heap of Google servers from pageranktool.net which seems to be indicating that its just happening now. No doubt TLA is about to get inundated with new listing requests [...]

The PR update seems to be the only thing anyone is talking about at the moment. :) Congratulations on the jump! Great stuff and keep it up.

I was expecting to stay at PR4, but when I checked, a few data centers have me listed as PR5.
Hannes Johnson // Apr 28, 2007 at 8:08 pm
OK, cool - let’s hope the final status for your blog will be PR5.

My page rank stayed the same for my personal blog. But, for my forum and my arcade site, it went up. My arcade site went from 0 to 4 and my forum went from 0 to 2. I was pleased to say the least.

I stopped worrying about pagerank, there are so many variables to it that we don’t know about. There is no use getting worked up anymore if a site doesn’t get the ranking I think it should.
Hannes Johnson // May 22, 2007 at 12:07 am
Well, PageRank is pretty important if you want to rank high on Google - and if you rank high on Google for a fairly popular keyword you can get a lot of free traffic.
Even though there are many variables behind how Google ranks pages you should work on getting links from quality websites that are related to your field.

Hi, I just checked and for some reason I was getting a PR 0 on the toolbar for this blog. Am I missing something or should the blog be showing a PR 4?

Hi, sorry about the last comment, I just refreshed my browser window and its showing PR 4 now :)

@Samanthon: I don’t know if you noticed but this is an old post (from April 28th, 2007) - So, it’s been a long time since they updated the public PageRank. We’re all eagerly waiting for an update :)
