Jacob - Yes, definitely. Especially when you've been online for a while and you've signed up for hundreds of different affiliate programs... commissions can easily get lost that way. Just make sure you keep track of all the affiliate programs you've promoted - even those that you haven't promoted in a while. You never know - they might owe you commissions (and you just haven't met the minimum for payout).

I think this is one of the big things that people do forget to do. If they took ten minutes once a week like you said and just try and get their earnings together and see if everything is where it should be, people would definitely never lose track of their money.

k.srinivasan - Basically, affiliate marketing is when you sign up to promote a certain product or service (or a collection of products through a network like ClickBank). You then (usually) get a special link that is coded with your affiliate ID to make sure you're credited for all sales you refer.

Having a website is not required (you can e.g. promote through AdWords and ezines) - but it helps.

You can get more information about affiliate marketing over at Wikipedia.
